Key Background
Delhi University (DU) has published Round 2 allotment list of seats for UG admissions 2025 under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG). 87,335 seats were allotted in the current round, exceeding the authorized strength of some 71,624 seats across 69 colleges and 79 courses. The over-allotment is included in DU’s policy to fill the seats and vacancies to the full strength before the start of the academic session.
In Round 2, 24,843 first-time allotted students who had not got any seat in Round 1 and 27,314 students got upgraded to their desired colleges or courses. Moreover, 17,922 students decided to freeze seats, admitting and closing the subsequent rounds. The allotment also included reservation policies like categories of Unreserved, OBC, EWS, SC, ST, PwBD, Sikh Minority, Kashmiri Migrants, Single Girl Child, and Orphan quotas.
In Round 1, DU has made 93,166 offers of which 62,565 have been admitted of which 43,741 have accepted upgrades, a sign of sky-high demand for popular courses like BCom (Hons), BA (Hons) Political Science, and BSc (Hons) Zoology, cut-off competition.
Admissions are done on CUET-UG scores and students’ college and course preferences. DU has also introduced three-tier support system—helplines, emails, and chatbots—to handle queries from applicants and provide a hassle-free admission process.
After Round 2, DU’s Round 3 allocations will be declared soon, and these will cover performance courses such as Hindustani Music, Fine Arts, and Physical Education, apart from special quotas. The round also aims to fill up remaining seats in a bid to reach full utilisation before the commencement of the new academic year on August 1, 2025.
This systematic process is a reflection of DU’s emphasis on transparency, merit-based allotment, and effective seat management to ensure level playing field for students of various categories.
